The book is full of interviews, coverage, and what reviewers out there are calling “juicy bits” from beginning to end.

And now, a film based on this fact-based political saga is in creation with actress Julianne Moore rumored to be taking on the role of Sarah Palin.

While I haven’t read Game Change yet, my assumption is that when the book is said to have some ‘juice’ in it, I now believe it. Why? One word…Moore. Never before have I seen an actress stay true to the art she wants to create, so to speak. And let’s just say that these artistic (usually indie) films of choice don’t ever include straight-laced roles. You won’t find Moore playing Jennifer Aniston’s bff in some fluff romantic comedy. Not a chance. Instead, Moore takes on some of the most challenging roles I’ve seen. From an incestrous mother in Savage Grace to a cheating heterosexual lesbian in The Kids Are All Right, and a mother rejecting motherhood in The Hours and so on, let’s just say that her stuff isn’t ever going to be your ‘average girl next door.’ Complex, misunderstood, even despised for her shocking choices are the characters that Moore tackles.

And now Sarah? Good girl from Alaska? Awesome wife, mother, republican, straight-laced woman in charge? With Moore stepping into her shoes, I’m going to go ahead and say…hardly. Beneath that onion are layers we’ve never known about, I’m sure. However, one of Moore’s strongest acting traits is her knack for making audiences see her character’s side. We see that even the bad and ugly can have some good in them. Or if nothing else, we are better able to see the reason (as skewed as it may be) behind her character’s madness, bad choices and ‘unforgivable’ actions.

As for Obama, McCain, Clinton, and the other male suits, casting is still up in the air. But again, from the sounds of it, the women are standing front and center in HBO’s book-turned-film, Game Change. But then again, although it often goes unsaid, isn’t that always the case?
