Bye, Bye, Brittany
The young and talented actress Brittany Murphy died early this morning from a cardiac arrest. The news really shocks me. I slept in this Sunday and was about to start making a brunch right after checking emails and facebook. With the headline of Murphy’s death at the age of 32-years-old was smack in the middle of Yahoo’s homepage, I gasped. Literally. Sounding dramatic (I’m sure), it just is shocking when someone dies before they are supposed to in our eyes. I had this same reaction a few years back when I woke up and saw that Anna Nicole Smith passed away. Same thing with Heath Ledger. There aren’t many details out there as of yet. Murphy’s mom allegedly found her daughter in the shower, unconscious, at her and husband Simon Monjak’s home. Aside from movies like Clueless, 8 Mile, Don’t Say a Word, Riding in Cars With Boys, Girl Interrupted, Spun, Uptown Girls, Little Black Book, a voice on King of the Hill, and more….a corky and fun darker comedy called Freeway (also starring Reece Witherspoon) is one of her earlier films before anyone knew who she and Reece were, and definitely one of my favorites – (I’m a strange girl).
Currently in pre-production, Murphy had five movies going which include: Poor Things (with Rosario Dawson; Shrinking Charlotte (with Kathleen Turner); and The Expendables with Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li and Jason Statham. While there hasn’t been much said in the news about her marriage, I remember when she dated Eminem and then Ashton Kutcher who recently commented on her death via Twitter.
Wrote Kutcher, “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.”
Her other two recently completed films are Deadline and Abandoned. Brittany Murphy was a talented, lovable actress and her death is very sad. She will be missed!
